I am riding a motorbike solo and unsupported from England to the southern most point of Africa and back. The trip is basically a circumnavigation of the continent as I will be going down the east coast and returning via the west coast. The trip will involve travelling through more than 28 countries (hence the fundraising target) and I will cover more than 40 000 kilometres! (25 000 miles). To put it in perspective  I will ride every day for seven months+ and I will cover twice the distance that Ewan Mcgregor and Charlie Boorman did on their excellent trip and I will do it alone. I will cover one fifth of the worlds surface area.

  10. Hi Spence -

Great to see your progress. Let me know if you’d like some contacts in Ethiopia and/or Sudan. We lived in Addis Ababa for 5 years and my father is still typically in-country several times a year either on assignment or supporting his charity.

Looking forward to monitoring your progress. Take it easy –

    Jeff

  11. Hi Spencer,

Shaun told me you’d had a hairy hotel experience, will you be able to sort the lights out? Had lots of hits on the online press release we sent out. Ready for your close up?

    James.

  12. Hi Huw
Trying to get pics sent through out of wifi range a bit of a prob. Things do not work here, lots of crashes and cut offs. Trying to find internet cafes in Cairo which actually work or without paying premium rates!!!! is a nightmare. Looks as if this will be the same as I go further south, particularly in Sudan. My only way of constant contact is on my Blackberry so am relaying info to admin through this but am exceeding my costs. C’est la Vie. Any way I am getting used to the system and after Sudan and Ethiopia should improve contacts. I will start a weekly review soon.

    Spencer

  13. take it easy… how about some pix?

  14. Hi Jez
Didn’t get on a camel, too many people trying to get money from me so Had a quick look at the Pyramids and went off into the desert!!! To escape. Had to stay in Cairo in a room the size of myself and locked the bike in a corridor. Traffic mad and all chaos. Hope to be on my way down to Luxor on Wednesday. Waiting for Sudanese visa. Lots of love. Spencer

  15. Hello Spencer,
Hope you have fun on the camels tomorow. Missing You Loads.
Hope you get back soon. Hows the duck?
    Love You xxx

  16. Bugger me Spencer, I’m not having a go…. :) )
I’m just ‘coaxing’ the admin to get it up to speed, after all, it’s you that’s doing the hard work.

  17. Hello Paul There are some teething probs but hope to sort them soon. Also will add links soon. Bit difficult as I’M in El Alamein and the connection is not good. Admin will get onto it. Otherwise all OK. Will get onto blog when I get to Cairo. Cheers Spencer
